Within close proximity to The Morgan Hotel, the Grand Canal Theatre commenced building in January 2007 and the curtain rose for its inaugural performance on 18th March 2010 with The Russian State Ballet featuring stars from the Bolshoi performing Swan Lake. The theatre's policy will always be to present something for everyone via a very diverse programme of theatrical experiences to meet every ones passion and interests including Ballets, Musicals, Family Shows, Drama, Concerts, Comedy, Orchestral and Opera, many of which would not have been possible to stage in Ireland before.

What an amazing opening season at the Grand Canal Theatre - from World Class Opera to major West End hit productions - it has all been covered and it is only just beginning!
To kick off the season, the fantastic 'Rocky Horror Show' is coming to town on October 11th. This non-stop party is bursting at the seams with timeless classics including the 'Time Warp!' Ready to thrill you with its frothy fun and naughty moments, this is the boldest bash of them all, so sharpen those stillettos for the rockiest ride of your life!
In October the theatre is to be transformed into a frozen wonderland as the stunningly choreographed ice spectacular Snow White on Ice comes to the theatre. This full length 'Ballet on Ice' marries danger and speed with the beauty of ballet. Caverliere Giuseppe Arena, who danced alongside Rudolph Nureyev, worked on this production which promise to be an exhilerating evening's entertainment for all ages.
Don't forget Michael Ball, in the role of his life in Hairspray - the story of Tracy Turnblad, the girl with the big hair and even bigger heart! We are delighted to announce that Mickey Dolenz of 'The Monkees' will also star in this 1960's feel-good show!
In December, get ready to embar on a magical theatrical experience unlike any other in the international smash-hit musical sensation Scrooge! The record breaking 'stunningly spectacular' London Palladium production is the perfect winter treat for all the family.
For music and dance lovers, there is a wide and varied programme. After travelling the world, the Grammy award winning Tango Pasion will come to the theatre this October. There is festive favourite Handel's Messiah, Michael Bolton, The Doobie Brothers and musical legend Colm Wilkinson.
